Non fiction Workshop, Ascotvale Library Library
On Saturday 28th March I will be running a two hour workshop on how to find the right ‘voice’ in your non fiction writing. The venue is the Ascotvale Library - 2 pm to 4 pm. More information soon.
Creative Non Fiction online course
My next six week online Creative Non Fiction course is now open for enrolments. It will run from February 26th to April 2nd, Thursday nights from 7 to 9 pm. Course contents include: How to distinguish the ‘story’ you want to tell from the ‘situation’ you want to describe in your creative non fiction writing; How to create vivid characters in non fiction writing; How to develop the right ‘voice’ for your story. All welcome.

Westgarth Ensemble performing at the Lyceum Club
On Wednesday December 3rd the Westgarth Ensemble will be performing a Christmas concert at the Lyceum Club in Melbourne. The program includes Baroque trios and duet, and some Christmas carols. (Club members only)
Victorian Trade Union Choir 35th anniversary concert
In 1990 I founded the Victorian Trade Union Choir. This year the choir turns 35 and is planning a celebration on November 14th at the Victorian Trades Hall in Carlton. Guest performers include the Tarab Ensemble - and me. ;-) All welcome.
Speaking at Odyssey Literary Festival
On Friday October 24th I’ll be a guest panellist, talking about memoirs, for the Odyssey Literary Festival at The Capitol cinema in Swanston St Melbourne. All welcome.
Menopause is not a use-by date
On the evening of Thursday 4th September I will be a guest panellist for the ‘Menopause is not a use-by date’ event in Woodend. A lively author panel and audience Q&A where we’ll unpack the myths, have a few laughs, and celebrate all things wonderful about women in later life. More details soon.
A night of readings at the Bard’s Apothecary
On May 24th I will join a group of writers including Tim Baker, Nam Le, Gig Ryan, Bella Li and Sally Breen at an evening of readings organised by the APWT (Asian Pacific Writers and Translators) group. APWT@BardsApothecary in Melbourne’s CBD is a free event, but donations will be welcome. The address is 7/24 Crossley St Melbourne, and the event kicks off at 7pm. All welcome!

On Wednesday September 11th I will be in conversation with bestselling author Markus Zusak at the Cinema Nova in Carlton. We’ll be talking about his new memoir ‘Three Wold Dogs and the Truth’.
Hosting Wheeler Centre panel
On Thursday 22nd August I will be hosting a panel discussion for the Wheeler Centre - from page to stage - Helen Garner’s novel ‘The Children’s Bach’ has been adapted into an opera. Guests incloude Helen Garner, librettist Glenn Perry and composer Andrew Schultz. All welcome, bookings advised.
